Harold "Rocky" Roberts
and his wife Susan
founded Timothy International Ministries in June of 1997
to reach international students
while they attend college in the United States
Both Rocky and Sue received their early missionary training at New Tribes Institute.  Later while on furlough Rocky attended Trinity College in Dunedin, Florida. Today Rocky holds the Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University and a Master of Arts in Religion degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Sue went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Liberty University.
In 1970 after serving as pastor of a local church in Toman, Wisconsin, God called the Roberts family to the Micronesian Islands, where they served sixteen years as church planters and educators. in 1986 God called them to Molokai, Hawaii where they served for seven years. Health considerations forced Rocky and Sue to retire from foreign missionary service in 1994.
The Roberts are the parents of seven grown daughters, all of whom grew up in Micronesia. Four were born in the United States, two were born on the island of Guam, and one was adopted while they were in the Republic of Palau.
After returning to the U.S. mainland, God led them through the challenge of a friend to look into working with international students studying at universities and colleges in the United States.. Rocky  traveled to several schools to investigate first hand the need for ministry among internationals. He found that times had changed since they went to the foreign field in 1970. Now there were more than 550,000 internationals currently earing degrees at American institutions. God had brought the world to America's door step.
The Roberts' hearts have always been burdened for the nations of the world, so it was not difficult for them to become challenged about reaching international students. They were impressed that God wanted to use their experience ministering cross-culturally to do the same for international students here in the United States.
