TIM'S Ministry to International Students
Today more than 550,000 international students and scholars from 180 nations reside in the U.S. on a temporary basis. They represent the best and brightest students from their nations. Over the next 25 years, approximately 40% of these 550,000 students currently studying in the United States will become leaders in education, business, government or the military in their native countries.
Approximately half of these students come from countries where about 90% of the unsaved peoples of the world live. Many are closed to traditional missions. Most of these international students are being educated by agnostics, atheists, humanists, and evolutionists.
We believe that God wants these special visitors to receive more than just a secular education. We believe God wants them to hear about Jesus Christ.
The church has been sending missionaries all over the globe to bring the Gospel to the nations. But, times have changed. Now God is bringing the nations to America. You walk past them in the supermarkets or on the street. You observe their different facial features, dress, or accent. But have you ever stopped to consider the possibility that God has brought
them here to meet a Christian like you?
Yet, of the 550,000 students and scholars who came to study in the United States, fewer than 5% of them ever see the inside of a Christian home or Church. As one Chinese scholar said," It is not that you Americans are unfriendly. You are just too busy."
For today's students a trip from Rangoon to Los Angeles is what a trip from New York to Chicago used to be. So foreign students from all over the world are flocking to American collages and universities in ever increasing numbers. God has provided the church in America with an opportunity to reach tomorrow's leaders today, an opportunity we simply cannot ignore.

The doors have already closed to missionaries in many countries. If we fail to meet the challenge of reaching the international student studying here in America, many more doors will close.
